About

Joan George is Counsel to Impresa. She focuses her practice on technology transactions both for public sector and commercial companies and providing advice and counsel on government contract regulations and compliance issues. In addition to her work with Impresa, she is the founder and managing attorney of JMG, LLC.

Joan has significant expertise in drafting and negotiating licensing agreements, prime and subcontract and teaming agreements, RFX bid and responses, reseller agreements, professional services, support and all other types of vendor agreements. She counsels clients on government contract compliance and provides training on the multitude of requirements associated with serving the public sector, including both the federal and state and local segments. She is experienced in GSA’s Schedule contract program as well as the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Department of Defense FAR supplement (DFARS). She has broad experience working with clients to assess legal and business risks in distributing software and hardware, cloud services, SaaS, and professional services while supporting business strategies.

Joan has served the technology sector in senior management positions, including VP-Legal and Assistant General Counsel at Oracle, Assistant General Counsel at VMWare, Inc., Director at Service Now, and Assistant General Counsel at SAPNS2. Joan started her career as a trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice.

She received her JD from the University of Miami School of Law and a B.S. from Northwestern University. She is admitted to the bar in the State of Maryland and Florida.
